Pottery Throwing

throwing

When people talk about throwing pottery, they generally mean the process from the time the clay touches the wheel to the time the wheel is stopped. In this more general (and most commonly used) sense, throwing is the entire activity of shaping the clay on the potter’s wheel.

Join us for a pottery wheel demonstration and the opportunity to test your skill at bowl making, either with the wheel or by hand. Air dry clay will be provided, so you can keep the treasures you create. Pottery will be available to purchase with all proceeds benefiting the Center.

When: Try your hand at pottery on Saturdays and Sundays, July 11th and 12th and August 8th and 9th from 12:00 to 4:00 pm.

Where: MooseWood Nature Center

Audience: All ages are welcome. Youth under 12 years must be accompanied by an adult. Just watch the throwing of clay or join in and give it a try!

Don’t want to get your hands dirty? Pottery will be available to purchase with all proceeds benefitting the Center during this challenging time.

During this event, 6-ft social distancing and mask wearing are required. Participants must bring their own masks.
