Search for Marquette Owls

MooseWood will host an owling event Friday,  January 17 to look for northern hawk, barred and great horn owls in Marquette.
The evening will begin with a twilight search starting at 5:15 on Wright Street just east of Presque Isle Avenue for the northern hawk owl that has been hunting in the old city composting site while it is still light.
Following the twilight search, we will hold a short program at MooseWood Nature Center at Presque Isle on the “Owls of the Upper Peninsula” at 6:00 pm.  After the program, we will car pool to several sites in the city limits to search for great horned and barred owls.  The Christmas Bird Count last month turned up three or four great horned owls so we are confident we can find some owls!
