1/12: Due to the predicted snow storm and the 30-50 mph winds forecasted, this evenings In Search of Owls program is being cancelled. This includes the indoor portion as well. If the presenter decides to reschedule we will reach out to participants that were registered.

1/10: Registration is now closed for the outdoor portion of the In Search of Evening Owls program for this Friday night (1/12) at 6pm.

We appreciate everyone’s interest in the program, but feel this is the best way to make sure everyone has an enjoyable time.

1/6: Due to the high popularity in this program, we will be limiting the field outing portion of the program to 20 people. Once 20 participants have been met, registration will be closed. All are welcome for the 20-minute indoor presentation.

This will enable our guests a more enjoyable field outing experience.

In Search of Evening Owls

Friday, January 12th at 6:00 pm.

Board Member and bird enthusiast, Scot Stewart will begin with an introduction to the unique hunters themselves through a short 20-minute presentation. To be followed by car pooling from the nature center to the off-site location(s) where owls have recently been active. 

We will call the owls and listen for their replies. We may hear Great Horned, Great Gray, Barred, or Saw-Whet owls. This time of year these mysterious birds make themselves known to each other by calling for mates and defining their territory. By late February, early March, mating pairs will be incubating a clutch of one to four eggs. That’s why Winter is the perfect time to hear owls “hooting!”

Suggested donation for the program is $5 for adults and $10 for families.

This program is recommended for adults and families. Please dress for the weather.
