MooseWood Nature Center Celebrates 30 Years!

New Peg Hirvonen Band Shell Revealed

Thursday, July 16 at 5:00pm, at MooseWood Nature Center on Presque Isle Park. Please join us and share our milestone with us before the Marquette City Band Children’s Concert to begin at 6:30pm.

Please join us as we celebrate our 30th year! Enjoy the following activities starting at 5pm:

  • A scrolling slide show and story board of our history
  • An assortment of educational exhibits and displays- a honeybee exhibit with a live demonstration hive, Smokey Bear, free face painting by Chaos Goblin, as well as some fun educational activities and booths will be available.
  • View and visit with our live educational animal exhibits, a corn snake, painted turtle, box turtles, gray tree frog and Shelldon, the common snapping turtle.
  • A Waste Management recycling truck will be available to climb into and see first-hand how it works, and art made from recycled materials by Cherry Creek Elementary 3rd Grade, Bothwell Middle School 7th, Marquette Senior H.S. Environmental Ed., and Marquette Alternative H.S. Art classes will be displayed with recycling education posters.
  • Enjoy fine foods from local food trucks, Basil and Banjo, La Catrina, Hitched Up Coffee Co.
Post Concert Gathering at MooseWood Nature Center

Following the completion of the Children’s Concert at the Peg Hirvonen Band Shell, we invite you to attend a gathering to enjoy an anniversary cake cutting with the option to purchase ice cream from next door at Becky’s Roadside Refreshment. Share your stories and your hopes for the nature center, review our renovation progress, hear about our plans and look to the future with us as the sun sets over the bog.
