Interested in learning to identify local fungi?

Join us on Thursday, October 13th at 5:45 pm. with a start time of 6:00 pm. as Joe Lane presents a beginner’s class on mushroom identification basics. Lane holds a certification as an approved mushroom identification expert through Midwest American Mycological Information (MAMI). He is also a former student of NMU biology professor, Dr. Rebertus.

Lane will take us through some of the basic language and taxonomy of mycology and we’ll spend some time applying these terms out in the field. Learning will also include safety protocols of mushroom hunting. Bring a mushroom field guide if you have one. A suggested donation of $5/adult, $10/family is recommended.

For your safety, no mushroom collecting will take place during this workshop.

Thank you! for the overwhelming interest in the mushroom classes which supports your year-round nature center offering natural history exhibits, outdoor education and events, birthday parties, and school field trips.

We hope to offer this program again next year!
